New York has just passed legislation making surrogacy legal in the state.
My knowledge of the issues impacting the donor conceived community will be particularly useful to prospective parents. Knowledge of the New York statute, the litigation that has shaped the New York statute and the issues that I have litigated and have researched provide a somewhat comprehensive understanding of ethical rules, norms and procedures. My legal background also lends itself to be an attorney for intended parents who wish to use surrogacy or obtain donor eggs, known donors. I have a background in family law, transactional and litigation experience and of course, work in the fertility fraud/consumer protection arena, I know what to do in the cases where there are reasons to bring disputes.
What does legal surrogation mean for families in New York?
Surrogacy being legal in New York will mean that infertile couples/women or LGBTQ intended parents will not need to go out of New York state to find surrogates to carry their children.
Who does this affect?
- Gay communities
- Family law committees of attorneys and legislators
- Other lawyers/surrogacy agencies
- Donor conceived groups who might be able to add to the conversations surrounding the donor conceived persons’ interests
How we can help:
I am devoted to causes surrounding women’s children’s/donor conceived person’s human rights and strongly advocate for families who are seeing the negative consequences of using ART.
